Dental EXAMs & CLEANINGs

Dental exams and cleanings are both an important part of any smart oral care routine. While brushing, flossing, and taking care of your teeth at-home are imperative to your overall oral health, going to the dentist at least twice a year for an exam and routine cleaning is also a must. Dr. Ron Katyal and our entire Premier Smiles team are committed to ensuring our patients understand the importance of a smart oral healthcare routine, which begins with an exam and cleaning. Regardless of whether you are 6 or 60, visiting your dentist at least twice a year for a check-up and cleaning is important to your oral health and wellness. Dental exams are also important because a person’s oral health is often connected to their overall wellness. During your initial exam with Dr. Katyal, we will go over your medical history as well as any past oral health problems. This provides us with an opportunity to get to know you and gain insight about the current state of your oral health. believe in offering our patients

We encourage all of our patients to take a proactive approach to their oral health and dental hygiene by committing to a smart at-home care routine. By taking care of your teeth on a daily basis, paying attention to any discoloration, pain, or other oral health issues, and visiting Premier Smiles a couple times a year, you will be on the right path to excellent oral health.

Dr. Katyal has more than 15 years of experience in the fields of both cosmetic and family dentistry. Committed to offering each and every patient who walks through our clinic doors with honest pricing and a warm welcome, it is easy to see why Dr. Katyal is considered one of the top dentists in Dallas. Even if you follow a diligent at-home oral healthcare routine, it is important that you visit us for a regular check-up and cleaning. We will be able to catch gum disease, decay, oral cancer, and other dental problems early on if you make it a point to see us at least twice a year. Our professional dental cleanings are designed to free your teeth of plaque and tartar, especially in hard-to-reach areas of your mouth.

About Our Cleanings

One of our trained and knowledgeable dental hygienists will use a scaler to scrape any existing tartar from both above and below the gum line during our routine cleaning. We may also use an ultrasonic device to loosen any stubborn plaque and tartar and then rinse it away with water. At this point we will polish the teeth with a paste and complete the process with a flossing. Once the surface of your teeth are smooth and free of any buildup, Dr. Katyal will be able to examine your teeth and see if there are any problems or issues that must be addressed.

About Our Exams

During the exam Dr. Katyal will look for any signs of decay, gum swelling, redness, periodontal disease, or other issues. He will also test how your upper and lower teeth come together and look for signs of teeth grinding or neck and jaw issues. It is important that you undergo a dental exam at Premier Smiles at least twice a year so that we can check for problems that you may not see or feel. This will also allow us to find early signs of decay, which can then be treated before it turns into a more serious problem. There are some people who may need to visit the dentist more than twice a year, such as:

  • Those with gum disease
  • Family members with a history of cavities or plaque
  • Those with a weakened immune system
  • Those who have a history of stress or illness that could lead to changes in the mouth or infection
