Crowns and Bridges
Again, crowns are designed to fit over an existing tooth, at which point a dental bridge will be used to fill in the gaps where the teeth are missing. Crowns can be helpful in whitening, reshaping, and realigning any existing teeth. The dental crown procedure may go as follows:
- Consultation with Dr. Katyal
- Preparation of the affected tooth
- Impression of the tooth is then made
- A temporary crown is put in place
- The permanent, custom crown is constructed
- The final crown is inserted

Dental Bridges
Bridges typically consist of an artificial tooth that is connected to a set of crowns used to fill a gap created by one or more missing teeth. In the event Dr. Katyal recommends a custom bridge for your mouth, you can rest assured that it will look and function like your natural teeth. Bridges are often used to serve as a lifelike replacement for one or more missing teeth. The bridgework will span the space of the missing teeth and may require three or more crowns. Depending on your situation, two of those crowns may be placed over healthy teeth on both sides of the missing teeth. When this is the case, those healthy teeth are referred to as abutment teeth.
